After a “Virtual” Open Gardens Weekend in 2020, (which can still be viewed by clicking on the Open Gardens button above), we were delighted to see so many people turn out for our real-life Open Gardens on 25th and 26th June.
Click through for photos of some of the wonderful gardens our village has to offer.
CAN YOU HELP? If you can spare an hour or two to help either once a month or just occasionally, we would be delighted to hear from you. We need volunteers for planting, weeding and dead-heading, assisting at events, and with occasional “heavier” tasks such as setting up tables, chairs or the gazebo, or repairing and filling planters.
Please contact Ann Davis on 01582 792518, email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks to our fantastic volunteers for making our summer planters look so colourful!
We think that the Anglia in Bloom regional judges were impressed when they visited Redbourn in July. During their busy two and a half hour tour, we showed them St. Mary’s Churchyard, including Teddy Tots’ vegetable planters, all of our Redbourn in Bloom planters including the two new ones, the improved verge and dry hedge at Fish St. Approach, the new rosebed, white bed and memorial seat opposite the Library, The Puddingstone Bed, St. Luke’s School, St. Matthew’s Care Home, New Forge Place, The Common and Greyhound Meadow Allotments. Our thanks to everyone who met and talked to the judges en route and those who helped with the lunch afterwards at the Parish Centre. Special thanks to Diane Whiskin for her delicious catering! The results will be announced at the Presentation Day on 7th September at Orsett Hall in Essex. You can see a copy of our Portfolio which we submitted to the judges at Redbourn Library and Museum.
The trophies and certificates for our Local Awards will shortly be presented. The results will be published in next month’s Common Round, on our Facebook page, and here on the website. Congratulations to all our winners!
